Welcome to Brookfields Counselling & Psychotherapy

Picture
During the current covid-19 outbreak I am meeting with clients virtually via online video platform.  Sessions can continue this way until measures are in place to enable us to meet face to face again.

Hello, my name is Ruth White - I am a professionally qualified and experienced counsellor and psychotherapist.  I am accredited and registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).  I am also a qualified supervisor, trained at post graduate level 7 and I work with trainees and qualified therapists, providing counselling/ psychotherapy and supervision.

I offer counselling and psychotherapy for adult individuals in my private practice in South Nottinghamshire, within 25 minutes of Nottingham City Centre, NG1 and within 15 minutes of Loughborough, LE12 .  I offer a responsive therapeutic approach based on your therapeutic needs, background and culture.  I support you to explore your feelings, thoughts and behaviours in ways you might not be able to with family and friends.  I see clients for short-term counselling (6-12 sessions) or medium-term (4-18 months) and long-term psychotherapy (18 months +).

Both Counselling and Psychotherapy offer you dedicated time and space, enabling you to focus on finding out more about yourself and your difficulties.  It supports you to make the changes you want as you move forward in your life.

Could Brookfields Counselling & Psychotherapy be for you?

Many clients tell me they never thought they were the sort of person who'd ever need psychological help.  Sometimes it is challenging to think we might need to seek outside professional support.  However, it is highly unlikely that anyone will go through life without experiencing problems which may result in psychological distress - relationship issues, work-related problems, or particular situations can arise that mean you are only too aware of how they are affecting you.  Sometimes however, psychological distress can also manifest as 'not quite feeling right' - and you might not understand why you're feeling this way.

"I went to Ruth when I was at a real crisis point... I was at a really low point. Ruth was amazing. She helped me to work through my feelings... and come to terms with what had happened. She is a very caring person who made me feel incredibly comfortable and I was able to share all of my thoughts with her and work through what they meant. I can not recommend Ruth highly enough to anyone in a similar situation to myself."  LK

"Having never experienced counselling before I really did not know what to expect, or even if it could help me.  I could not have been more wrong.  The professional and calming nature Ruth creates hugely aids the experience which I found very rewarding.  I would say to anyone who is unsure if counselling is for them, try it, it worked for me thanks to Ruth's kindness and help."  IH

I offer you a therapeutic relationship where you will be accepted and understood.  Talking things through with a professionally trained, experienced and caring professional will support you in gaining personal insight, and begin a process which helps you to move forward in life.

I have experience of many client difficulties, and I offer counselling and psychotherapy which helps you tackle issues such as:
  • problems in relationships
  • depression and low mood
  • stress and anxiety
  • lack of confidence and low self-esteem
  • anger
  • bereavement
  • trauma - recent/historical
  • loss of purpose and self-identity
  • work-related issues
  • sexuality and sexual identity
  • caring for others with life-limiting conditions
  • childhood problems that are still troubling you or holding you back
These are some of the issues I regularly work with - you might have something else you'd like to discuss, and I am completely open to hear about whatever is troubling you.
