Hello - I'm Ruth White, a qualified, BACP Accredited psychotherapist, and post-graduate qualified supervisor - welcome to Brookfields Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Deciding to seek professional psychological support can be a difficult decision, especially if this is the first time you have considered psychotherapy.  I understand the importance of finding a therapist you feel comfortable with, particularly during times of personal distress and/or confusion.  I'm happy to speak with you on the phone to briefly discuss your requirements and see if you'd like to go ahead and book an assessment session.

Our first face to face assessment meeting will enable you to tell me more about what brings you to counselling.  It will also provide you with an opportunity to gain a sense of me and how I work, and have any questions answered.  We will also be considering if working with me would be beneficial for you at this time.

If you'd like to arrange an appointment, please get in touch on 07925 430018 or brookfieldscounselling@outlook.com

My therapeutic approach:
I'm a Humanistic and Integrative therapist and I offer you a supportive and non-judgemental relationship.  I believe that a relationship based on mutual respect, trust and understanding creates a solid foundation from which you can explore the difficulties you bring to counselling.  My approach considers your current problems, as well as earlier life experiences and relationships, which may be continuing to impact your adult self.  I won't offer advice, or tell you what you should do, but I will support you to connect with your own internal resources; enabling you to make the decisions which are right for you.

We work at your pace and regularly review therapeutic process.  Some clients find a few sessions of therapy helpful, whilst others engage in longer-term work lasting several months or years.

Professional training and clinical practice:
My therapy work is underpinned by an in-depth training with the highly regarded Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute, where I graduated with a BSc (Hons) degree in counselling and psychotherapy.  To further my professional development, I am currently undertaking a Masters degree.  I have worked as a counsellor and psychotherapist for several years.  My experience includes working with clients in private practice, the voluntary sector, the NHS and higher education.  I established my private practice in 2013 and work from a very private, purpose-built therapy room at my home.  I am convenient for Nottingham/Nottinghamshire (close to NG11, and a 20 mins drive from NG1), and Loughborough, LE12 (15 mins drive).  I am also just 15 mins drive from the M1 (J24).

I am an Accredited and Registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy; one of the largest counselling and psychotherapy regulating bodies in the country.  I work within their professional and ethical framework and also that of The Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute, giving you the added assurance of a professionally regulated service.

I'm passionate about what I do, and the benefits that good counselling and psychotherapy can make to one's life.  If you would like to find out more, please get in touch.  I look forward to hearing from you - Ruth.
